Holiday outing and food

The festive season of Christmas is approaching and an evening outing for a drink with good friends and relatives has its honor. But what happens when we are trying to improve our weight or our diet? Can these two be harmoniously combined?

I want you to remember that there is room for everything in a balanced diet and in no case should our effort isolate us socially and deprive us of beautiful moments with friends. The food you will consume before going out will help you stay hydrated and full throughout the night so that you can enjoy the good company and be relaxed. Below you will find some tips that will help you manage the invitations and outings of the holidays as well as possible.

Tips before and during the night out:

  1. Drink enough water during the day but also during your outing to avoid dehydration and reduce the chance of a bad hangover.

  2. Avoid leaving home fasting. Especially when this is done deliberately “to save calories” as in most cases the hypoglycemia caused by alcohol consumption leads us to snacking or eating junk food.

  3. Eat a light meal with protein such as eggs, cheese, chicken or tuna. The protein will slow down the emptying of the stomach and help prevent the hypoglycemia that follows after consuming alcohol.

  4. Consume “good” fats along with your meal (nuts, avocados, eggs) which remain in the stomach for longer and delay the absorption of alcohol by the body.

Ideas for easy snacks before going out:

  1. Wholemeal tortilla with Freevia Goat Cheese and vegetables

  2. Wholemeal bread with avocado and egg

  3. Sandwich with wholemeal bread and chicken or tuna

  4. Whole crackers with hummus and vegetables

  5. Omelette with Freevia Goat Cheese

  6. Easy pizza on skewer pie with Freevia Light Goat Cheese
